Hello, community! I'd like to pose to you something I've been thinking about on and off for a few months.

I came a bit late into A:TLA, namely in the middle of season 2 though I've seen all of the series by now save for a few episodes from the first season. Zuko and Katara were easily my favorite characters, and now that I roleplay I've toyed with the idea of giving Katara a shot.

However, I'm sure my interpretation of the series was colored by fandom, and I've since tried to separate my own thoughts from that influence. I still have a bit of a dilemma in that while I'm confident in my interpretation of Katara, there's also some inconsistencies in her character that I'm not sure of how to address without adding stress and possibly wank to any cast I may play with.

So, my question for you all is how far do you think you can go into a interpretation while keeping true to the character and canon? What do you do when you disagree with how something was presented in canon? Can you make a valid argument against canon and make it believable? Also, were there any inconsistencies you noticed in the series or the characters?
